Gravestone epitaphs: Entertainers

Gravestone epitaphs: Entertainers

I have often found the epitaphs on gravestones and tombs that go beyond the simple details of name, life span, and relationships, more interesting, and sometimes poignant, when they cover details of their lives and fame. Following are some of those for entertainers – actors, singers, and entertainers.

My favourite epitaph, and that of many in the UK (voted the nation’s favourite epitaph in a 2012 poll) was comedian Spike Milligan’s “I told you I was ill”. Additional UK favourites can be viewed at the Mail Online.

I do not care how many flowers they send–
Above all else the happiest trail would be
For You to say to me, “Let’s ride, My friend.”
